Illuminatus is a retrospective of Fantastic Realism painter Robert Venosa's celestial, mythological, futuristic, surreal, other-worldly, art. This is Venosa's most impressive book so far - a far-reaching sequel to his earlier visionary collections, Manas Manna and Noospheres. Those familiar with his work, as well as those exploring it for the first time, will find his visions exciting and inspirational - a mythology for our times. If the most exciting artmaking one can hope to encounter is an exploration of the furthest reaches of the imagination, then Robert Venosa must surely rank among the luminaries of our era.
"Robert Venosa creates mythical mindscapes that fascinate and illuminate. His tableaux are windows into timeless vistas of the inner realities"-Timothy Leary
"Bravo Venosa! Dali is pleased to see spiritual madness painted with such a fine technique" -Salvador Dali
"Robert Venosa's art truly captures the imprint of a spiritual force; each painting so alive, seeming to breathe, pulsate and stare back at you, challenging the viewer to also reach their highest potential." -Carlos Santana

This book showcases the masterful artistry and fathomless vision of Robert Venosa. The text gives us a road map of his journey, but it is through his paintings - reproduced here in vivid color - that we catch a glimpse of the man and begin to understand the depth and passion of his life's work.
Celestial, mythological, fantastic, futuristic, surreal, erotic --words alone can not describe the infinite beauty of Venosa's creations. They must be experienced and savored, examined and re-examined, if one is to know their full impact.
The signed and numbered Limited Edition of 500 copies.
112 pp. 12 x 12 inches. Includes full-color reproductions of 95 paintings as well as color details, black-and-white graphics and photographs. Casebound, with dust jacket in a linen-bound slipcase.

Since the inaugural issue of October, 1978, Venosa's art has been featured on the cover and in the pages of more then 25 issues of OMNI. Of the magazine Venosa says, "OMNI was the first to give the artist equal credit with the author...something that to this day is still not seen in any other newsstand magazine. OMNI also put Fantastic Realism, Surrealism, Visionary, and every other type of 'Fantasy' art, square into the public's eye. I and my colleagues owe OMNI a large measure of gratitude for its uncompromising stance and visionary concepts."Venosa's art is also featured on the OMNI Webzine. |
